Congratulations to Elena & Cristian
10/06/2009
Married at The Plantation on Sunday 7th June 2009.
When I first met Elena and Cristian, back in November 2008, they told me that they wanted their wedding to feel like a big party. They wanted no formalities, plenty of food and drink, and that the entertainment was to be continuous and spectacular. They also told me that they wanted their day to have a Middle Eastern/Egyptian feel about it, reminiscent of a holiday they had taken together soon after they had met. I was excited from word go.
The Design
Choosing the gorgeous Plantation as their wedding venue, the marquee plans were set in motion very quickly. The idea was to turn a white marquee into something with bold Middle Eastern features including decadent lanterns, palms, and camels (not the real ones)...and then to create a chill out space that would reflect the style of a Bedouin tent: a place where guests could go to smoke Sheesha pipes and lounge around whilst overlooking the dance floor.
Elena & Cristian made the decision up front to purchase all their decor rather than hire it, as they were also about to take on the complete renovation of their home in Brisbane, and were quite keen to turn the decor into home furnishings. It made sense then to bring on the interior decor skills of Domayne, who were fantastic in customising the look of the day. They provided a number of items including lounge furniture, lanterns, cushions and these gorgeous Medici plates which made centrepieces for the bistro tables.
Events by Design custom-made the Bedouin muslin tent which draped in The Plantation’s Summer House and also custom-made the Italian wedding canopy, with lace and crystal features to create some fluidity of style across both the ceremony and reception.
The bouquets, wrist corsages and 13 buttonholes were supplied by Exclusive Wedding Flowers.
The Entertainment
And so the party started! The first guests arrived at 1.30pm, and the ceremony kicked off at 3.10pm, followed by some spectacular performances from Sista Music (who played Egyptian music to match the theme), the release of 70 balloons from The Confectionery & Party Shop, Terry Chapman as magician, Bella Belly Dancing, Talia Carbis Trio fire twirling, and a raucous DJ set from Showtime Entertainment (who also used some incredible lighting techniques to showcase the Paulownia Trees, a signature feature of The Plantation).
The Fare
The food, prepared by the team at Noosa Catering was delicious and abundant, whilst in true Italian style it was the champagne cocktails and Peroni beer that proved to be the most popular tipples for the night. The traditional Italian torte wedding cake was made by Jonathon M Patisserie, 110 cupcakes by Vanilla Pod, and the lolly bar and traditional Italian wedding desserts were more than enough for the sweet tooth in all of us!
Come 11pm the buses, supplied by Noosa Hinterland Tours, were on time to take the exhausted guests back to their accommodation in Noosa and Sunshine Beach. Truly, I have never seen dancing start so early, and was in awe of a particular niece of Elena’s who literally danced the whole night through!
Our Thanks
Thanks to all the suppliers who made this wedding such a spectacular affair, and my personal thanks to Elena and Cristian who pushed the boundaries to truly create something different.
From behalf of the team at Events by Design, we wish you all the best for the years ahead, and know that your big day will be remembered by all who attended. I cannot wait to see more photographs from Calli B Photography.
Love and best wishes to you both,
Trudy
